MEDICAL MISSIONS
In March of 2002 the Lord presented a very interesting mission opportunity for the North Merida Baptist Church. The pastor, Larry Allred, was asked to come and translate for a group of Doctors who would be offering a free medical clinic with the purpose of opening the doors to evangelize the lost in the city of Valladolid. This city is the 2nd largest city in the state of Yucatan and is just 2 hours from Merida. Larry and his oldest son, Joshua, were able to translate for the physicians and also present the plan of salvation to the majority of the patients. They were able to personally pray with over 150 people who desired to be saved.
Since that first trip, they have been able to participate (on average) in 2 medical mission campaigns each year in Valladolid and the surrounding villages. They have seen hundreds pray to receive Christ and thousands receive Bibles (or John and Romans). They are praying to be able to start new churches in some of these areas in the future as God opens the doors.
