PERSONAL TESTIMONY OF TAMMY ALLRED
Tammy was born June 25, 1966 in Arab, AL. Tammy did not attend church as a child, other than vacation bible schools with neighborhood friends. However, at the age of 15, her boyfriend (Larry Allred) insisted that she attend church with him and she was soon saved and baptized.
After graduating from high school in 1984, Tammy pursued a career in Business Administration. During her sophomore year of college, she and Larry were married. Then, a very drastic change of events took place in her life in the year 1987. Larry and Tammy went on a mission trip to Veracruz, Mexico. It was during this trip that she and her husband surrendered their lives completely to the Lord. Soon after the trip, Larry and Tammy discovered that they were expecting their first son, Joshua. The Lord spoke very clearly to both Larry and Tammy that His plan was for their lives was for Tammy to be at home with their children instead of advancing a career. David was born just 2 years later; then 21months later, Christopher was born; and then finally after another 2 ½ years, Phillip was born.
Tammy found much joy in her new career as a mom and also devoted much time to taking classes at the church, including: personal evangelism, Discipleship I, II, and III, and anything else offered to better prepare for the work of the ministry. She was also very active in the ministries of the church: discipling ladies one-on-one, serving in the preschool department, teaching lady's bible studies, working in children's church, and working in the Awana ministry as the director of Sparks for 7 years. These areas of ministry served to prepare Tammy for the day that they would leave for the mission field.
